If they interfere with the 1B, then yes.

Hyperbole much?

throw was off the bag and into the baserunner. where is a runner supposed to go, especially considering the throw was into him and not at the bag? common sense should come into play in the world series when it comes to the rule book but hey, let's just get super into the minutiae of a rule that is never applied until tonight

Nationals radio team of Charlie Slowes & Dave Jageler reported that MLB official Joe Torre, who supervises the umpires, went on the field after the review, and spoke to both umpires.

C & D believe that the Nationals are now playing this game Under Protest. The Astros manager was pissed, when informed about Torre & this.

They were incredulous
They finally said NY didn’t have the stones to overturn the call.

Exactly the word I was using. I have no access to TV so they are my lifeline. They are stunned at the whole sequence of events.

He threw it into the runner. Bad judgment call of all judgment calls, at a minimum.

But he was in the baseline on his last step. He only interfered with the throw because it was way off line. Even if he was in foul territory he would have been in the way.

No mention of a baseline for a batter-runner....

Has anything ever happened as a result of playing a game under protest?

a somewhat poor throw that hit the runner after it had passed the fielder and the runner was aiming for the base....not interfering with the fielder's efforts to catch a ball he could not catch, given the throw...

Maybe the runner was supposed to stop. :D
