How do you not swing on a 2 strike meatball?

Rendon....0 for 3 swinging at the first pitch with RISP...
He wasn't the only Nat who seemed impatient at the plate tonight.  But the Astros are a good team.

We'll get them tomorrow.

Yep, let's do it.  Where did all these Negative Nellies come from at the end of the game?  It was a little frustrating, but we're still ahead 2 games to 1.

Negative Nancys come out because Nats did not sweep Astros.  :hysterical:

Nothing to be ashamed of, tonight.  In fact, win or lose this series, I believe a parade is in order.

So there is this great looking early 40s blond at the end of the bar. I am watching this series of fellows hitting on her. It's more fun than this game

They need to take a lesson from John Nash

Indeed.  Prior to the Series start this was the best scenario.

I feel confident about game 4, game 3 felt like a trap game.

..and yet, Rendon repeats behavior that has a very low % of success...not once, not twice, but three times....that is the 'hero complex'...'I'm gonna do it all...I'm gonna be the Hero..'.....would you stand in front of an oncoming truck three times and act surprised when you keep getting flattened out? That's what he was doing...
The best hitters in this game historically do not flail at the first pitch with RISP.....only mediocre ones do this...or the ones whose egos have taken control....Tony Two Bags became Tony No Bags because he lacked plate discipline, and while not alone in that regard, this sort of thing will dash any hopes of ultimate success at the game.

There is no rush in this game to flail at a first pitch with RISP....what, are they going to turn off the lights? Call the game on the account of rain that has not yet arrived? No, nothing is going to happen, so why rush at the first pitch when scoring opportunities await? cannot think of a reason....now, if someone is going to say that 'gosh, the first pitch might be the best one'....well, so what? Make them throw another...but many of the Nats watched the best pitches sail by, then flailed at some woefully bad pitch inside or in the dirt, then act surprised when the ball did not zoom out of the stadium....collectively they lost plate discipline under pressure and it showed...and when one of your allegedly better hitters tries to take on the game solo, well, the results could be predicted....even the announcers lost their cool when Rendon flailed out for the third FN time in a row...personally, if I were Martinez, I would hand Rendon a pencil the next time he is strolling up to the plate with RISP and only give him a bat after the first pitch, just to send a message..

It’s one of the reasons for his improvement.
