Probably some creative accounting too.
Not really. The just have spent a whole lot beyond those big four. Where as we spent 6 million on Doolittle, 8 million on Harris, 5.5 million Hudson, they have Robles and a whole lot of low level contracts. Our number four starter makes more than any of their top 3 guys.

Yep. Just enjoy it now, like Angels fans enjoy Trout and Mariners fans enjoyed Felix

best all around hitter in baseball:

Well, it would be terrific if he were to keep up something like his current pace, of course.  It really is fun to watch him emerge as well as players like Tatis and possibly Robert.

Robert's not even in that conversation yet.  And by the time he is, Wander Franco will be better than him

Why do I already hate this thread. There will be optimism for next couple years, then same anger about MASN, then bargaining about what they could making for Nationals Park naming rights, then I don't want to think about it.
This remains what I consider an accurate prediction.

The Lerners built their empire on commercial real estate that is now basically worthless and they own a high-payroll team that is pulling little or no revenue.  Do it!!

I wouldn't say their real estate is worthless

We all know where this is headed. But the Lerners will put a nice “Thank you Juan Soto” article in the newspaper when he signs elsewhere.

The poor dears: In March Forbes reported that the Lerner fortune was down from $5.3B to only $4B. Bloomberg puts current net worth at $4.7B or so as of 9/20.
In any case Lerner is still the richest person in Maryland.
He's 95, time to loosen the purse strings a bit.

I'm hyped for his .320/.450/.650 season next year with 40 HR and 120 RBI.
