Okay, I think this a good time to bring this up although this is obviously hypothetical since nothing is final yet. Looking ahead, if the Nats advance, would you rather face the Yankees or the Astros? I haven’t really followed either team but I will watch as much of I can of their series and hope it goes seven games. I know the Astros had a little bit of tougher time in the DS but they have an incredible rotation.

It’s gonna be a good week of baseball!

If we get there, definitely the Yankees because their pitching isn’t as good.  I think they’re the team we can beat. But if we make it and lose, I could stomach losing to the best team in baseball (Houston).

Plus, with a WSH v. NYY World Series we’d be subjected to songs from that crappy musical “Damn Yankees.” :spaz:

It's not about a jinx. It just seems out of line to do it when the current series hasn't even changed cities.

Half these guys haven’t even adjusted to Corbin coming in and now they’re supposed to pick the next opponent.

Yankees and it isn't close. I want no part of the Verlander/Cole monster.

Seems premature but ok....I'll bite. Gimme the Yankees and another NY/WASH World Series, 95 years after the last time we hoisted a flag. And because it's so easy to hate the Yankees.

I'm very worried about Spider, that's twice tonight he's gotten all weak in the knees about jinxes. He used to be a stalwart against the silliness, but look at him now, I really do wonder.    :poke:

If it's the 'stros, Spring Training is going to be weird.

freak no, it just seems odd to bring this up when the series is not over. It's smug to assume this series is over and at the same time it's asking because the OP wants to know which is the least path of resistance so the smug Nats can face the weaker of the two teams. :lmao:

I would like discussion of the ALCS. Can we just change the title to “ALCS:Yankees vs. Astros”?

Well, I think people ARE thinking a bit ahead, so it's honest in that sense.  For example, I've got to buy tickets to the WS for my group well ahead of knowing the outcome, just as I did for the WC, NLDS, and NLCS.  So of COURSE I'm looking ahead.

And I voted for the Yankees, because, well, they're the Yankees and I'd rather beat them.  Maybe Zimm can walk them off again like 2006.    :hysterical:

I follow the AL so little I couldn't even tell you who the better team is.

Don't like the idea of playing in their funky bandbox where a pop-up can result in a home run.

Playing the Yankees would jack up ticket prices so that normal fans would be less likely to be able to attend.

The Astros. The Astros are the better team.

The team that wins is the better team.

They both have fairly even records.  Both had top-heavy divisions with weak teams outside of the top two.

The better team doesn’t always win. You can argue that we don’t know how good the Yankees are because of injuries, but baseball is random.
