Things tend to get ugly when a guy who's gone an entire inning without throwing a fastball needs to start mixing them in. The 9th was a bit of an illusion. That was throwing hooks to guys he could get out only throwing hooks.
He was never going to get through the middle of the order only throwing one pitch, and when he started throwing it, the fastball got lit up. When it came, they were sitting on it.
