I thought time in September when rosters expand is not counted?

Any time spent on the roster during any part of the regular season counts toward service time.

Quote
MLB Service Time is counted beginning on MLB Opening Day up through the last day of the MLB regular season (including any day a tie-breaker game is scheduled after the originally-scheduled conclusion of the MLB regular season).

They had more health in the last two seasons, respectively,  than Martinez did in 2018

Nats are 4th in runs scored in the second half. You know since they've been healthy and Bryce stopped trying to hit 50 homers.

Game to game the offense is still wildly inconsistent. 40 runs came in 3 games including that 25-run game against the Mets which helps to boost that total. In 29 games since the break they have scored 3 runs or less 10 times.

2 hits today, both in the 3rd inning, so in 8/9 innings they didn't have a hit. Their last 20 PA of the game they went 0/19 with a walk and Urena pitched a CG.

This is something that WNFF posters have been complaining about since 2013.

:lmao: :lmao:

Oh you really are delusional

Laugh now, but watch the sweep happen. Martinez rewatches each game to look for ways they can improve. After the games on Sat and Sun he'll have enough info to course correct.

That Nationals are far more likely to get swept.

Roark's due for a loss. Strasburg is getting rushed back from injury. That leaves Scherzer, and he'll likely get 0-1 run in support

The more I thought about it last night, by the time I went to sleep, I fully expected to wake up to news that Martinez has been fired.  After yesterday's game I cannot understand how he can be retained for even one more game. The question of who will replace him is irrelevant.  Hire Steve Spurrier for all I care (he played some baseball).

Apparently the meeting of the SSS was effective.

There is no way he is going to get fired now. Maybe in the offseason but I suspect he will get a chance next year too and if they get off to a bad start then he's gone.

Pretty much every player on this roster deserves a lot of blame for this crapshow; well, everyone besides Doolittle, Soto & Scherzer, really.

Rendon too.

Rendon has had about a 100-point drop-off in his OPS, but it's still his 2nd-best season at the dish. I expected him to be a stud like last year but instead he's back to being an above-average overall player, which is fine albeit a little disappointing.

I can't complain about him being the 3rd or 4th best 3B in the NL.

Doolittle, is he still on the team? Last I heard his toe was hurting but that was a couple months ago.

No mention of Rizzo whatsoever. Wow.

Three entire sections aimed at Rizzo, quite an indictment. Lack of rotation depth, no catcher, and lack of lefties in the pen. Zuckerman works for MASN, which despite being mostly owned by Angelos is definitely an extension of the Nats. Zuck can't take direct shots at the GM, just the results of Rizzo's failures.

Rizzo takes blame just like everyone else. Did not get a catcher. Had no back up plan at 2B with Murphy being out so long. No starting pitching depth.

That about says it all as far as I am concerned but his hands may have been tied from the beginning

Maybe more than this season being Martinez's fault, Rizzo's fault, or the players' fault it was simply a group effort?

Primarily: Injuries and players fault

But naturally, Martinez and Rizzo take some of the blame.

But Rizzo did have a back up plan for Murphy.  Howie Kendrick was about as good of an insurance policy as you could ask for.  Unfortunately, we had him out dicking around in the OF when he got hurt.

Kendrick is not an every day MLB 2B defensively anymore. Even before his injury. He has spent most of the last few years in the OF.  The real back up was Difo. Unfortunately he fell off offensively this year.

Look at the bright side. Kendrick’s injury forced them to call up Soto.
