I have no idea what you do or don't know about baseball, I can't read your posts. How about sub headers? Or break up each point into a separate post. At least you use paragraphs, but still way too much text to read through.

Just ignore them  ;)

The standard response here when someone refutes someone’s theory or opinion with data is to throw out the old “you don’t understand baseball” or “you’re parroting what you hear on TV.” Used to annoy me. But if that’s all you can muster when presented with facts, it makes you wonder who is the person that doesn’t know what they are talking about.

Baseball isn’t quantum physics or neurosurgery.

It still annoys the hell out of me.  And I hope I never get to the point that it doesn't.

basing everything on playoff results is ridiculous

baseball is a marathon not a sprint

many players have terrible playoff records and no one ever got rid of a player because of their playoff record

dusty made the playoffs time after time that is his worth once in there anything can happen in short series

i have watched baseball and dusty's playoffs he made no ridiculous moves no more so than Maddon Maddon made some horrible moves in the playoffs vs the Nats

the reality is you can only win a ws if you make the playoffs if you have a manager always making the playoffs then you stick with him because eventually they might win the ws by missing the playoffs you guarantee you won't win it lol

I agree with Spider that "you don't have a clue" is mild stuff, and we all criticize each other's knowledge of baseball.

Davey can't set aline up that works and stay with it.

Because the next game, that lineup gets shut out.

This is just one in a history of weak responses by the players.  2013, 2014 postseason, 2015, and 2016 post season.

Rizzo needs to gut the house

I count one mistake so far this season.

This is what started this. I will back off and let everyone decide what they think of that statement.

Todd Dybas has a good article on why both the starters and bullpen are tired. The starters are at the top of the league in innings, which would mean that the pen should be well rested, except that Martinez is swapping them out so often that they have a high number of appearances.

Quote
So, the rotation leading the league in innings should mean the bullpen is not being pulverized. And, the innings pitched by the bullpen would second that notion. It is 14th in the National League coming into Tuesday’s game... Martinez has been caught in the trap where he’s burned both ends of the candle this season. His starting pitchers carried the bullpen until they couldn’t, but his shallow use of the options out there has also fatigued the bullpen by game 90. It’s a problem.

Davey is clearly learning on the job but I do think he is growing into it. I'm not going to blame him for Gio and Roark, proven vets, crapping the bed or Harper hitting under .220.

Incredible.  So Davey has somehow "managed" to have our starters lead the league in innings, and our relievers have the 2nd most innings pitched.  I would have never thought that was possible.  Great job, Davey.  Keep up the good work.

The guy has totally mismanaged the pitching staff. It’s going to be the downfall of this team, because I think eventually the bats will wake up.

No reason to think the bats will wake up. Eaton and Murphy are still hurting. Wieters sucks. Difo and Taylor has mirage seasons last year. Harper can't figure it out. Despite the mismanagement they have one of the better team ERAs. It's the hitting that has failed them.

I can't access the article. Don't understand this. The excerpt quoted below says the Nats are 14th in bullpen innings? Did you mean that they have a high number of appearances although fewer innings pitched than other teams?  Otherwise this makes no sense mathematically. They cannot lead the league in starter and bullpen innings.

That's it, Martinez has managed to overwork our starters in total innings and our relievers in total appearances.
