I'm sure we will build "depth" with some cheap bounceback/dart throw signings, but Suero is going to start the season in the big league bullpen.  He'll have to pitch poorly for a month or so to get sent down.  He showed enough promise last year.

Fortunately, Spring Training will provide that month (just kidding, of course).  But never mind, I was wrong anyway - I didn't realize Guerra was on a MiLB deal and had forgotten the 26th spot.  Guess I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue...

Not sure why we're even bothering to talk about this. Rizzo and Martinez will try all the fodder to see if something sticks. When it doesnt, he'll just make a trade at the deadline.

Yep. And that pen will implode and lose about 20 games again.

I thought you were ready to call it a season because we lost Rendon?

We? I don't think there is one person in here that would agree with anything you say.

Voth is the best of the bunch.   He reminds me of Mussina a little.

I've been puzzling over this one.  Let's see.  Voth has ears.  Mussina has ears.  Voth throws a fastball.  Mussina throws a fastball.  Voth went to a Pac-12 school.  Mussina went to a Pac-12 school.  Voth still has ears.  Mussina, also still ears.

Sadly the comparison ends there. Mussina is in the HOF while Voth is a.... lol. It’s hard to put them in the same sentence without insulting the other :mg:

* = lefty, (m) = minor league contract.  I should add "o" for options.  I think Fedde has one, and also Rainey.

I think one of the reds is a lock, so that is 5 locks.  That leaves 2-3 more slots out of the blues or people we bring in, ideally with one or two having options.

Fedde used all 3 options before completing his fifth pro season, so he is that rare dude who gets a fourth option year.  He'd otherwise be out.  Voth is out.  Rainey has one left - used one in 2018 with the Reds and one last year.

so, if all 3 are healthy and pitching OK, Fedde gets option and Voth and Ross get kept.  I assume Finnegan has options, too?

the speculation is that Ross gets the 5th starter slot, Voth goes to the pen as a long reliever / spot starter, and Fedde is in reserve as an injury call-up.

I think he has all of his.  I don't think he was ever on the A's 40-man.

I can't imagine they would have signed him to a major league contract if he didn't have options.  You'd just offer him a high-salaried MiLB deal so you didn't risk losing him if you wanted to have him start the season in AAA.

Yes, Finnegan has all three of his options left.

Daniel Hudson's deal with the Washington Nationals is for two years and $11 million, sources tell ESPN. He can earn another $1 million in performance bonuses related to games finished.
