Myers + prospects for Betts seems extremely counter to the Sox stated goal of cutting Payroll. They probably want to stick David Price in this deal.
Betts is making $27MM. Myers is making $20MM a year and has another 4 years left (2023). No way the Sox do this to save $7MM for one year and then have a 3 year, $61MM commitment to Myers after that. he hasn't had a 2 fWAR year since 2016.
