Yankees have a vulnerability in their starting pitching.  Usually they can out hit any problems, and they are getting some health back, too. Best case scenario for the Nats might be for the Yankees to outslug their problem in the ALCS but for our starters to have better luck suppressing them. Or maybe the best case is for a low scoring World Series with the 'Stros and rely on late inning thunderbolts from Soto/Rendon/Kendrick/Turner/RZ/Studzuki/MAT

Hope it goes seven games with a few extra innings affairs. Beating the Yankees would be great fun. But beating Astros on top of taking down the Dodgers would be epic.

More epic only to sabremetricians.  To put it in a way you'd understand it, isn't beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl better than if it were the Chiefs?  NYY are the legend and the mark.  Their Man U.  City may be better, but Man U is for history.

The latter would make for an interesting spring in WPB...

It's always best if the Patriots don't even make it to the Super Bowl...

When was the last time the Yankees won? 2009? The Astros won in 2017. The yanks used to be a dynasty. No longer. Closer comparison would be the Cowboys.

I ninja'd in the point about Man U v City, which I think holds.

Probably. I have a friend who is a Yankees fan so that would make it more fun. He still holds 2009 over me.

We'll know more about the Pats after they get through extended pre-season v. the AFC and NFC East.

Is that ever going to happen?  I mean they might as well just book their flights to wherever it is in February.

sometimes, they only get as far as the AFC championship game.  I vaguely remember that once about a decade ago.

We will see you on November 17.

Seriously, they do start the regular season in a few weeks after they have one more against the Jets on 10/21.  it's almost like they and the Red Sox decided, "You know, the fall is great in New England.  We'll give you a couple of months with nothing serious on your schedule rather booking it up with meaningful games."

Okay, and? That series is done. They're not beating Grienke, Verlander, and Cole.

Like I said.

We're definitely a bad matchup for the Yankees (our SP is K-heavy, their lineup is K-heavy, their rotation is weak, our lineup can hold its own), so I guess rooting for them to win if we advance.
