At least that's what they THINK we are talking about. That's top secret code right there. Seriously though I have to focus on something other than game 5 of the NLDS today.. I promised myself I would not let a game stress me today but I lied..

If they win I'm popping a bottle of champagne.  :-[

Only since I woke up this morning.

But the people in LA have it under control. The LA Times thinks it's a done deal.

Avid followers of athletic teams feel a certain physical anxiety when their team of choice is imminently undergoing a crucially important contest. :hysterical:

Just don't hit yourself on the hand with one. We need you for the NLCS.

We all handle nerves in different ways. Unless you're spider. He's way too cool to get nervous. He's too busy chilling champagne for the big moment.

I meant the LA times with that article. That much brash overconfidence reeks of insecurity. They did not expect the Nats to hang around this long..

We're on the same page. Yes, when certain people get nervous or insecure, they brag about themselves to offset those nerves/insecurities. It's like the guy jumping off the high dive and telling himself that it will be ok. :mg:

It's part of it, but unfortunate that 1 of these teams will be raked over the coals tonight for another postseason disappointment.  These are 2 very good teams and whoever wins will have truly won it versus it being handed to them.

Basically the same Nats as in 2016? If that's what the LA Times is basing its optimism on ...

The eight 2016 Nats with the most plate appearances: Rendon, Harper, Werth, Espinosa, Murphy, Ramos,  Revere and Zimmerman.  The three pitchers with more than 25 starts: Scherzer, Roark and Gonzalez.  None of the 19 pitchers who made relief appearances are on the team now.

The starting lineup for the fifth game in 2017 had Werth, Harper, Wieters, Murphy and Gonzalez.

This team is very different from either the 2016 or the 2017 team, much less those of 2012 or 2014.

They may lose tonight, but if so, it won't be because of how the four previous playoff teams performed.

I've been saying the same thing to those that think a postseason collapse is inevitable.  Totally different roster.  Different manager.  Different almost everything.  And it's not like those past teams weren't close...they were sooo close.  Just 1 more pitch made...1 more big hit...1 play in the field...maybe this is the group that gets it done?

We've said it before, the playoffs are a crap-shoot.  We've had enough talent to win arguably every year but 2016.  One of these days, we'll break through.  Hopefully it's tonight.

I've had one for about 2 years now and still use it at least 2-3 times a week.   The big advantage is speed, and that you can cook frozen meat.  I can make a beef stew in about 30-45 minutes in the IP and have it come out falling apart.
The instant pot, which I’ve never heard of, is that the same as a pressure cooker?

Yea, baseball is a game where in small sample sizes (IE the playoffs) crazy things happen.  A bad pitcher can pitch a gem.  A great pitcher can get crushed.  A great hitter can go in a slump.  A bad hitter can run into a few.  7 games at least gives more of a chance to normalize, but 5 games can be wild.  The best team isn't always going to win the series.  The Dodgers have the better regular season team due to their depth.  For the postseason...we're pretty evenly matched.

The only place the Nats will be raked over the coals if they lose is on WNFF. Every other outlet will say the better team won and commend the Nats on getting out of the hole and salvaging their season.

It’s technically a multi cooker: crock pot/slow cooker/ pressure cooker/rice cooker etc.
but the main thing it’s used for is the pressure cooker function. The reason people like it is because you can just set it on a dial and walk away. It cooks and releases on its own. Much easier and safer than a stove top pressure cooker.

If you just look at this year in a vacuum, yes.  But there will be continued talk until the Nats advance past a NLDS that in 5 postseason appearances since 2012 they haven't been to a NLCS.  And if the Nats do get to a NLCS...then the monkey on the back is winning a World Series.

Not thrilled from a defensive side with Kendrick and Zimm in there, but here's hoping vet savvy from them carries the day

this series, and game 5, were a microcosm of our season - get behind, battle, win at the end.
