Corbin going Game 1, obviously.

Who pitches Game 2? Sanchez? Stras on short rest?

Corbin
Sanchez
Strasburg
Scherzer
Everybody

And I like our RH lineup against their lefty starters.

Yeah I like it.  I mentioned in the other thread, split in LA and come home with Strasburg and Scherzer on the mound against their 3/4 is a pretty good recipe to take the series.

No thought to trying to run Stras and Corbin on short rest?

I will think about it but lets see how it goes with Corbin on Thursday.  I like Sanchez - he has good career postseason numbers.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic but wasn't Corbin's last start a disaster? I admit I did not watch it because I was in Chapel Hill letting my Clemson Tigers give me a near heart attack, But I could have sworn that he coughed up six runs in 1 inning after the Nats put up a 9 spot. We should have confidence in him why??

I think it was 4 in one inning and 2 in an other...but yeah, he wasn't great the last time out...

I managed to score a room, with parking, of course, at the Residence Inn on 1st Street for Game 4.  They wanted $900 for that night, but I got it using just 35,000 Marriott Rewards points.

So...here's hoping that the series goes 4 games, and then on to the NLCS...  ;)

I don't like going with Strasburg in game 2.   Who knows how he'll be on 2 days rest, and if he sucks, you also burn him from when he'd probably have been good in game 3.  Plus he's been dominating at home.

if you go Corbin/Strasburg/Scherzer you can go with Sanchez if needed in game 4, then repeat Corbin and Strasburg (with Max available in game five).  That seems like the ideal approach.

Jesus, that statistical overview is daunting.  Dodgers are 1st in the NL in batting, fielding and pitching and 3rd in bullpen.  That's remarkable.

This. Strasburg in Game 2 would mean he might be available to come out of the bullpen in a winner takes all Game 5 if needed. All hands on deck just like the Wild Card Game.

As the Nats can attest by their World Championships in 2012 and 2014, the best team always wins these series.

Now we can finally say that the Nationals made the playoffs in 2019. :whip:

11 wins away from a championship, like everyone else.

Dodgers likely throw Buehler tomorrow then Kershaw, Ryu, Hill.  Ryu was running away with the Cy Young before a rough month of starts, then he got back to form to end the season.

I said it months back when we got hot, but I think it might be to our advantage to have entered the postseason having been playing meaningful games versus coasting to an easy division title then having to turn it back on in the postseason.

The Dodgers haven't faced pressure since last October.  The Nats have had their backs up against the wall since they hit 19-31.  And now after winning last night and facing the favorites, it almost feels like playing with house money.  All the pressure is on LA.  True that the Nats still haven't advanced past the NLDS, but the Dodgers are the team expected to face the Yankees or Astros in the World Series.

This series is going to be epic.  I think we get them in 5.

I mean, Sanchez in game 2 isn't exactly a terrible plan...
