I’m not so sure Boston is a scandal.

Alex Cora definitely was using cheating methods. The reason why Boston is not getting talked about is because they werent the first to be caught. Astros are taking all the heat and Boston is just hoping people forget

The reason Boston is even being talked about is because of Cora and his time in Houston. And the fact that when the commissioners report came out we were led to believe he was the mastermind. Now of course it’s Beltran. Next week it might be Orbit for all we know lol.

Now things could change and we could find out things that aren’t on our radar. But Boston using film to decode signs and then with a runner on 2nd needing to see the signs, signal them to the batter...

My point is it isn’t near what Houston was doing. It’s the same thing going on for 100 years. Without Cora and him previously being in Houston, no one would care.

Looks like Turner is going to get a shot at replacing Rendon in the 3 hole:

Can he remember who he is in the third spot?

First Robles has to learn to take walks.

Does Turner take walks though? I feel like they are pretty similar in terms of plate discipline, and as long as Robles gets 25-30 HBP a year his OBP will probably be fine.

Zips has their 3-year OBP projections basically indistinguishable.

Turner hits and strikes out less.

pretty small major league sample size at this point for Robles.  In 2018 in the minors he posted a .371 OBP in 52 games and .382 in 2017.  It seems reasonable that he should be able to improve off his .326 last season.

Sure, but not by taking more walks. Robles isn't going to become more patient at the plate. In fact, based on last year, he shouldn't be. He's a swinger, he needs to swing.

Oh I didn't know 22-year old Victor Robles was a finished product - so sorry.

Again, their OBP projections are identical. I'm not saying Robles is a prototypical leadoff guy, I'm saying neither is Trea Turner.

For those outside the MASN broadcast area, Saturday's game against the Astros at 6:05 is scheduled to be on MLB Network.

If only the team employed a third option.  For example, a relatively fast outfielder with a career OBP north of .360.   Given the limitations now placed on relievers, I'm not sure Eaton/Robles/Turner would present big issues.  Soto might get walked 450 times (give or take a handful or two), but that's probably going to happen anyway.

Oh I didn't know their projections were fact. My mistake.

You're right, Robles isn't a finished product. He's, frankly, pretty far from being one and he only got worse as last season went on.

Not easy to hit in the 8th slot either.

I don't like them. Somehow, they remind me of the Primus video for Winona's Big Brown Beaver.

Maybe it's just that picture of Thames in the helmet.

Rather pitch to him or fight him, though?

It is.  Marcus is the hitting coach for the Yankees, but he was also a decent hitter who would probably deal fine with what most folks on here could throw, despite being 42 and retired for the best part of a decade.
