I decided to lock the poll and end it / reveal the results now that dave has officially freaked things up by naming Max the WC starter.

Not surprised one bit at the WNFF results...

WNFF wanted Davey fired in May . . .

They’re not a 100 win team. Not with the pen Rizzo put together.

Don't have to be...just win 4 more games vs. the Barves...

when you consider the bullpen deficiencies, this team is exactly where it should be.

It was spending money on other things that put them there. Is this a 100 win team with no Corbin?

In the pregame show before Scherzer's last start, dave Martinez said that he wanted Scherzer to be able to go deeper into games, by getting outs without all the extra pitches needed for strikeouts.

I agree with this. Keep the bullpen out of the game as much as possible. Trying to blow the ball past everyone provides the physics for those home runs. Just get them out as fast as possible.

Bs was kidding, I think.

I was kidding. But then we are talking about the guy like he’s late career Mantle. We aren’t talking about holding on to years past. This guy was the unquestioned best pitcher in baseball in June of *this* year. And a guy who has struck out 21 batters in his last two starts.

I think he had a couple of rough starts early in the year. Then he got much better when Suzuki started catching him exclusively. Now I think he’s back, but Suzuki wasn’t able to catch. I think if you get them back together we will see the Max we are used to.

Strasburg. At this point he’s better than Max.

yeah, i voted to start Strasburg, but if you flip the question and ask who would you rather have coming out of the bullpen in the 6th, Strass or Scherzer?
again i'd vote Strasburg as the favored reliever which would make Scherzer the starter.....DAVE wins

He’s not wrong. Strasburg wasn’t pitching nine innings. So maybe it was better to have him come in the second half of the game. If he hadn’t gotten pinch hit for, I’m pretty sure he would have finished the game.

  • Hell yes!
I voted Stras and am vindicated by the result.  Stras was completely dominant.  But we won, time to move on.

Strasburg is just insanely good in the post-season. To have him fully healthy and available is absolutely a fantastic boost to our chances.
