THE RACING PRECEDENTS: Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 88th win, each season:

2017 - 10th September (143rd match of season)
2012 - 11th September (142nd match)
2016 - 16th September (147th match)
2014 - 18th September (152nd match)
2019 - 24th September (157th match)

2013 - finished 86-76
2015 - finished 83-79
2005 - finished 81-81
2011 - finished 80-81
2007 - finished 73-89
2006 - finished 71-91
2010 - finished 69-93
2008 - finished 59-102
2009 - finished 59-103

...and now, with 2013  having dropped off following the afternoon match  yesterday, the 2019 edition now keeps company only with the four earlier playoff teams. Not bad for a team that was once 19-31.

I think you omitted the 2018 team

No love for Gomes?
I thought about adding him so yes he deserves a call out. It really is strange that when Rendon and Soto go quiet along with Kendrick and Cabrerra (both just recently) another pair steps up. If all three pairs got hot at the same time it could lead us to the promised land.

Anthony Rendon was asked if this will propel the Nationals to their first playoff series win. He offered this: "I don’t know. It would have been nice if we had more people out there tonight. It is what it is. Hopefully, they’ll show up later on in the year."

You know, Tony, I was there for the matinee, having just been to the Skins debacle Monday night and DCU Sunday night. Pardon me and others if we didn't fill the place to the rafters for a chance to see you potentially earn a play-in spot but still finish second in the division (although Carp made a comment during the locker room celebration about the team being 'champions', iirc).

And if the lead-in question was about last night's win propelling the Nationals to their first playoff series win and his answer was a jab at the fans rather than at playoff fails in which he and his grin had a hefty part, that's just pathetic.

My craw is occupied by being preached to (off hand) by a guy who didn't think enough of us (the fans) to even show up in the All Star city.

:-[  Probably doesn't belong in this happy thread.

I have a feeling Old Chelsea would approve (mostly because it isn't Liverpool).
