The goal is to get on base. Taking a pitch in the zone does not increase the odds of getting on base.
A walk is money in the bank with zero risk. Even if Turner hammers a 3-0 pitch down-the-middle there is still that risk that it will be caught.

But a pitch in the strike zone doesn’t mean a guaranteed walk.

You can’t defend Turner swinging 3-0. That’s a case of a player either a) having no awareness of the situation or b) trying way too hard to make things happen

2 things that seem to plague this franchise during meaningful/intense games.
