What if he remained in high a for development purposes and confidence building?
yabut for how long?  Don't you want to expose him to some better competition this year, maybe a selection of good prospects from around the various systems?

Hopefully he continues to gain confidence in A ball and then crushes it in the fall league so he's back on the radar in 2022.

it probably benefits him to play out August in highA then join our team in Arizona for the fall league

FWIW, on the SPH zoom with Rizzo yesterday, Antuna was the only position player in the minors I think mentioned by Rizzo. HE talked about how, after a year and half of not playing competitive games, it took him some time to get going again but they are pleased with his results now.  not super insightful, but it is interesting that he is still specifically pumped up to  the fanbase. Not Cluff, not lower levels in the system. No discussion of the AFL or higher minors.  He gave a platitude about guys having different development paths and how some are ready at 20 and some at 25.

No, honestly.  He's young enough that a month and a half of AA is not going to materially alter his prospect status unless he flops and then loses confidence.  At this point in the AA season, most of the actual prospects are gone.  Guys who started the year well and are now in AAA, replaced by guys who flopped in AAA and have been sent down, and they're competing against guys up from high-A trying to figure it out.  It's not a great developmental mix.

To add to earlier astute elucidations, best that he be the highest of the High-A highnesses for the remaining term before heading to the fuzzy boundary of the mountain and pacific time zones for a season of further seasoning against elevated-level, more mature prospects before a promotion next vernal occurrence to the most medium of medium of minor league levels.

He really struggles against lefties. To the point where switch hitting needs to be re-examined

I haven't seen him this year, but back when I did, his swing was totally different from the two sides.  It's not surprising that the results are wildly different, but you're right on the numbers.  Yikes.

Do it now or face the wrath of 3KEspinosa.

He's clearly starting to get the hang of high-A.  Which at not-quite-22 years old, is encouraging if not a slam dunk.

Hopefully he can finish the year strong in A-ball, play some fall ball, and be ready for AA in 2022.

If he rakes the last week or so of the season and rakes in the fall league, we’ll see him by June next year (and still only as a 22 year old!)

I think it is too soon.  Let him dominate a bit in High A.  If you want to challenge him, play him in the Arizona Fall League.  That'll be against AA level guys and decent prospects.  If he does OK, then Harrisburg next year.

this is kind of why I think the Nats are playing Escobar at SS rather than seeing what Garcia can do there.  TBH, I also sort of wonder if they would shift Kieboom to 2nd if there were a nice 3rd basemen FA they could get on the right deal next year.

Is Antuna a better defensive SS than Garcia?

Garcia rated higher in the minors, but has underwhelmed in the bigs.  Antuna has 71 errors in 1385 career minor league innings at shortstop for a .885 fielding percentage.  This includes 25 errors in 651 innings this year for a .904 fielding percentage.  Not sure on the throwing/fielding breakdown of any of this.
