There was some speculation that he would start in AA so this is kind of disappointing.

He’s actually up to .080 but with 3 HR thanks to one in each of his last two games
got off to a horrible start, something 0-27 (see up thread).  Wonder how he's looking once you back that out.

Didn't get a hit his first 8 games. In the five games since, he is 4-23 with three homers and a double.

I thought his 2019 was pretty discouraging, but then the Nationals added him to the 40 man to protect him. All our hitting prospects are looking like hot garbage. The only guy hitting is Jackson Reetz, but the Nationals exposed him to the Rule 5, showing they don't care much for him.

Blow up the farm system staff and start over.

up to .110   .204   .360 with 4 HRs and 2SBs now on the year, which isn't terrible given the 1-35 start.  .212 / .257 / .364 in June.

That's still pretty terrible.  As I said in the other thread, almost any other 21-year-old who put up numbers like that in 2 months of high-A finds themselves in low-A.  He's only still in Wilmington because the organization publicly pumped him up.

Now hitting .139, or 17 for 122. Subtract the 1 for 35 start, and he's hitting .184. "Still pretty terrible."

He’s 21. No need to panic yet.

11 for his last 25.  Only 2 doubles and no homers, but hopefully he’s turning the corner

up to .181 / .261 / .324, 6 HRs on the season and .300 / .364 / .425 with 1 HRs in 11 July games.  If he keeps this up, he might see Harrisburg before the season is over.

went 4-5 yesterday with 4 doubles   Now slashing .210 / .297  / .375 on the season,

July: .305   .394   .495

Last 3 games: 7-13, 6 doubles, 2 walks.

Let's hope for a July that matches August.  First signs of him doing this in MiLB as opposed to camps and instructional leagues.

Still only 21 and doing this at high-A, he probably moves to Harrisburg sooner rather than later.

Keep him in High A for the next month and let him experience some success.  If you want to challenge him, then send him to the AFL.

Terrific to see. I would keep him in High A and let him keep succeeding the rest of the year. Send him to the AFL and have him start the season in 2022 in AA.

I agree he's old for his level, but as Section214 noted it may not be the worst idea to keep him in High A and tasting success before pushing him to Fall Ball and eventually starting him in AA or AAA next season.

I like the idea of letting him finish in A ball (hopefully finishes strong) and then goes to the AFL. If he does well there he's starting in AA and back in prospect status in 22.

I challenge anyone to say the same concept a different way.

2-5 with a homer tonight.  Up to .317/.417/.585 with 8 doubles, 1 homer, 8 Ks, and 6 walks in his last ten games

I’d settle for letting his confidence build at high A before sending him to the afl

I say we let him complete his competitive period at a level below Double A, then transfer him to an Autumn league. Thus, he shall complete 2021 baseball competition with great aplomb, and be ready for greater challenge in the coming seasons.

What if he remained in high a for development purposes and confidence building?
