pull out the great green pickle

When I was a kid, we did a tour of the Heinz plant on the North Side.    They gave away green pickle pins.     Bob Prince used to shake the green weenie at the Bucco's foes.

I figured that.    I know how it can be when your mind starts wandering down the highway.    I was talking to the deli lady today at Giant about this very thing.

Factory tours were the best.  A Coca Cola bottling plant in Bangkok and a Del Monte canning facility somewhere around Fresno in the 70s were like serious high points of my childhood.  It's probably an OSHA/insurance "NO!!!!" nowadays.

I saw a sponsored ad on FB about Amazon Fulfillment Center tours. Might be interesting or it might be boring as hell.

That should seriously terrify the crap out of kids.  I'd be studying 20 hours a day if I saw an Amazon warehouse in my future.

We did two that I think were staples in the DC area - Embassy Dairy, that tour started at a farm in Montgomery County watching cows get milked, then on to the processing plant which, while spotless, had a sour smell to it.  But the number one tour was the Wonder Bread bakery.  Oh the smells, fantastic.  Then at the end of the tour they handed out a little mini-loaf to everyone and we were tearing those things apart on the bus eating them.

Not unlike how I felt at the conclusion of my Jameson's tour just over a week ago.

In the Navy towns where I grew up, all we ever got was a tour of the submarine

I think so but Nats were at RFK by then.  I don't remember Griffith.
