Gomes needs to have a picture of Bryce Harper in his mitt, when Strickland is pitching...

Thats Elias' fault not Davey, he screamed at him to take it easy.
Fair enough but maybe he should have told him before he came to plate.

I always thought it would be 2 relievers, we got.  I guess this is where we should be happy Rizzo got 3, and Strickland looks much better than I'd have expected.

Are 31 yo mlb relievers really that bad out of shape that they can't run 90 ft without pulling a hammy?   Or is it just a matter of not warming up?  I love the compete level, but he really needed to know his body there.

If you're not used to sprinting (and maybe not well hydrated) that could easily happen. But a pitcher should be doing some sprints in his workouts.

:smh:

you're up 2-0 and playing with a short bench. There was no need to leadoff and burn a PH that you may need later. You wanted the pitcher to come out to face the lefty leadoff batter for Arizona. You expected him to K. No one could predict he would pull a hamstring trying to beat out and groundball
Elias hamstring would like to have a word with you

Oh and Elias isnt supposed to be facing lefties.

It seems pitchers are usually out about 2 weeks with a hamstring injury.  No sprints for 2-3 months, but he should be back pitching soon enough.  Seems like a good couple weeks to give the bear a chance.

But they dont. They have no reason to sprint.

You're a pro athlete getting paid a million a year to dedicate your life to a sport.  Alternating some medium distance runs and sprints into your day should seem like a given.

No, I'd expect you to have warm ups and exercises that are specifically designed to your job. For relief pitchers, that's not sprinting.
