So what else would you do to protect the fans from line drives ? Plexiglass ?
I freaking hated it too. I was sitting by the ballgirl down the LF line so I was at the edge and it freaking sucked. Funny thing is that the foul ball Soto hit in the 7th hit a dude on the forehead and gashed his coconut (I was sitting a few rows in front of him) and he had to be taken by the medics to bandage up and it happened on the first day that the netting was up. 
Another hing the netting does is that it keeps the kids sitting in those sections from getting foul balls that the ballgirl retrieves. It also changed the t-shirt toss. People at the front or way back can't get to them. A few didn't even make it over the netting.
