Nats could make history this year. This would be a historical blown lead.

They can pair it with the historic comeback after the atrocious start

They've already made playoff fail history, so there's room for a train wreck of a different color

When your manager goes down hard with a heart attack, you'd think the team would at least try to "win one for the gipper".  The exact opposite has happened.  Talk about an uninspired bunch of LOSERS.

They were seven or eight games clear a couple weeks ago. And playoff odds of 98 percent.  It would be a major meltdown.

Major and “historical” are two entirely different things.

I'm sure they chose to lose.

Nats are floundering and all we can do is rely on other teams to lose. Sad. Nats are stuck in quicksand. They get a freebie this weekend vs the Marlins and likely won’t take advantage of it.

Bunch of Losers (BOL) received an unearned gift tonight -- Cubs and Brewers narrowly come up one run short.  This sort of gift, served up on a silver platter, is likely the last of its kind.

Reds win, Nats remain 1.5 up on both Chicago and Milwaukee.  Both of those teams have 10 to play, we have 11.

On second thought

I’m pretty damn happy to be scoreboard watching after the 19-31 start. This is what September baseball is all about. Need to dig deep and finish strong. Hopefully a weekend series against the Marlins can recharge the batteries.

Yea. I am sure those teams will go undefeated from here in.

So historically bad would be the 8 run and 8 1/2 run Septembers blown by the Cards and the Braves. That led to the second wild card after they happened in the same season. But honestly, we started pretty well placed at the beginning of September, so yeah, it's historically ugly that we're at this point, but not historically the worst ever.
