I found game four of the 1974 Stanley cup finals on YouTube. I didn’t think I had seen it and then broadcasters confirmed it was the only game not on tv in Philly. JCA’s guys lost.

Once I watched that the 1980 Olympics final game against Finland popped up and watched that also. Oh my Al Michaels was just a kid. Nice to see the late Jim McKay also. You all
Know how that one ended. Was surprised to see Jari Kurri on the Fin team.

If you have the NHL Network, they've been showing a lot of "classic" Cup Finals.     Think I saw parts of Montreal and Philly the other night.

Unfortunately don’t have that here.

they had the 1987 finals between Philly and Edmonton on the other night but unfortunately I don't get that network with my FiOS package.   That, IMHO, is the greatest cup series that I've ever seen.  Edmonton was up 3-1 in the series after only losing 2 games in the proceeding rounds. Then they managed to blow 2-0 leads and lost games 5 & 6, and then found themselves down early in game 7 only to come back and ice the game on a Glenn Anderson 30 footer with about 2 minutes left in the third.  Ron Hextall won the Conn Smythe in a losing effort.

The scene of Hextall realizing the Anderson shot went through his legs is one of the iconic moments in hockey:

Game six was the best. The night the spectrum roof almost blew off from the noise. The guy who wrote this article agrees that it was the best series. Game six is my favorite Flyers game ever. Even above the Cup wins. To come back against a dynasty like Edmonton was unbelievable.

Hextall was an amazing story after Pelle Lindbergh died a year earlier.

Also the Flyers would have won had Tim Kerr not been hurt.  Remember you heard that here.

Great read, thanks for sharing.  I was a huge Oilers fan back in the day and still remember that series fondly.  The flyers were the definition of "gritty" that year.

NBC Sports Channel is showing various playoff games all week. I believe the Caps series winning game over the Pinguins from 2018 is on the list.

NHL to scrap rest of regular season. Start with expanded playoffs (24 teams).

Marchand?  If so, we know how he caught it.
It's funny because he hasn't licked anyone for 3 months.

From what I have been reading Vegas is a lock.  Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver are all in play.  If logistics don't work out with Canada, Chicago seems to be the favorite for city #2.

If Toronto and Vegas are chose I wonder if they would switch the conferences?  East play in Vegas and West in Toronto so as to have no home rink advantage.

Give them the advantage, either winning would be very 2020 sports

Good news for Oskar but wonder if it’s wise to have him near his teammates given his condition.

NHL still finalizing cities.  They really need to pick two in Canada.  Just dump Vegas.

Edmonton and a spot North of Edmonton.
