We're 5-2 on this homestand. Would it kill you to just agree with someone once?
We dont win the series, the best we can hope for is a wild card.

In all honesty, this team should be looking to sweep. They have better pitching.  The offense is clicking. It's time to put the pedal down and go to work

Tall order. Got Keuchel coming for his first start and they also face Sroka

No reason not to win this series.   Doo and Rainey are rested.  Need to beat up

A sweep would be great obviously but if they can win tonight I look at tomorrow's game as house money to an *extent* given they won't have Max/Stras/Corbin pitching and we have a ton of games left with the Braves after this series. 5/6 wins vs Phi/Atl on this stand and down 6.5 (4.5 would be icing obviously) to the Braves is certainly manageable with 3 months left in the season, a rotation on fire, the lineup consistently producing, and the pen pitching great + likely pen upgrades coming before the deadline. Coming out of the ASB we have 7 of the first 9 games with Philly/Atl and then 3 more with the Braves at the end of July. So this series isn't the be all and end all right now.

Austin Voth on the mound today against the Braves' best pitcher.  Reverse jinx anyone?

Have the Nats faced this Barves pitcher before ?  Seem to remember hearing about this Barves pitcher in the 1st 2 games at the end of May

And that will do it. Today is a guaranteed loss. Nats will be 8.5 back with no real hope of getting back

Only 3 back in the wild card.  Outside of the Dodgers the NL is underwhelming this year.

The Wild Card will sort itself out. But the Nats wont be in it. Ownership wont exceed the luxury tax and Rizzo isnt going to trade Keiboom. This crap is done.

When Joe Ross relieved last night, my thought was "At least he won't be starting Sunday." Then I hear Austin Voth. It's come to this sad state of affairs.

We'll win 5-7 games and be in virtually the same position at the end of the home stand as we are in today. Don't expect a dramatic and definitive answer on whether this team should look to contend or start selling.

Except you were wrong as we now have a definitive answer. This team should be selling.

Ignore the division and focus on the wild card.  Considering what wild cards have done to our best record division winners, I will take a chance

The team isnt good enough, doesnt have the coaching, and doesnt have the payroll flexibility.

Division race is a fantasy.
The Wild Card may be worth a look but not with this manager and bupen
