I have to give 3 cheers to the Nats. They donated 35 tickets to the Paul VI HS special ed program to which my daughter is a teacher. They had some extra tickets so my wife and I were invited. Great game and the kids, parents and mentors all had a great time. Thanks again to the Nats for providing them this opportunity.

Maybe I missed the turn but isn't that what it was?

A couple of posters find it is redundant. Can't be a shutout without playing the full game. I'm pretty sure though, it's it clear the starter did it himself rather than having the bullpen contribute to a shutout by committee.

So what do you call it if a starter pitches 8 scoreless innings. I think adding the complete game helps clarify.
