Details are sparse but that’s not how I read it. Only the 8 and 9 teams in play. Apparently single elimination for 9 and double elimination for 8.

Not sure how the schedule of the 8 regular season games would work either with 13 teams in the west and only 9 in the East.

I was going off of the "If the No. 9 seed is less than four games back, there will be a play-in tournament, sources told ESPN."

That could only mean the number 9 seed gets a shot though

Yes. It’s ambiguous. Hard to see a longer tourney in one conference though.

Davis Bertans sitting out the season restart.  He's a FA at season's end and is in for a big payday, no need to risk anything now.

There chance of making the final 8 in the East went from like 5% to 1%.  It's actually not bad because now they will play Troy Brown Jr. and Garrison Matthews more.  It's uncertain that they can sign Bertans for next year in any event.

Just to recap they need to make up two games on at least one of the two teams ahead of them:  Orlando and Brooklyn.  They have one game against the Nets.  None against Orlando.  The Magic and Nets play twice.

Lost their final scrimmage today to the Lakers. A perfect 0-3 record. It’s in replay at NBC Sports Washington tonight at 9:30.
Real season resumes Friday at 4pm versus Phoenix.

They need to draft someone who can at least try and play D.
