Rui and Mo Wagner will both be playing for the World team tonight in the Young Guns game.  I believe Bertans is in the three point contest tomorrow night??

Nice win after a great effort the other night versus the Bucks. Not too many more wins though please. Let’s get ping pong balls instead.

Beal follows back to back 50 point games with a 30. Not too shabby.

Watched the Wiz win and had time to flip over to the BTN to see Maryland's win.    Quite a night of local hoops.     OT    Went over to Books a Million trying to find a copy of The Capital of Basketball   ...   no luck.

I'm a UMD alum. I can't watch basketball. Too much anxiety. If they're up by 15 with five minutes left, I can turn it on.  :hysterical:

I'm old.    :old:    I like holding the book before I buy it.    I open it to the middle somewhere and start reading.    If it grabs me, I buy it.    If it doesn't, I move on to the U. S. History section.    :)

I got over that in the early '70s.    ;)

In your early 70s, or in the early 1970s?  :mg:

I can watch pretty much anything else without anxiety. But not UMD college basketball. I did manage to watch the National Championship game.

The old NC State/Maryland games   ....   when only one ACC team got to March Madness.     I got serious nerves during the 2002 Final Four as well.     Way off topic to the Wiz but I remember my uncle tellin' me to go see the Freshman team at UMD in the '70/71 season.    He said they had a couple of good prospects.

Had the CoronaExtraVirus not interfered, tonight (15th) would have been the Wizards' season/home finale (vs Pacers).

They undoubtedly would have won to cap a miraculous comeback to grab the final playoff spot.

From what I have heard it sounds like the Wizards will have six regular Season games to make up a 5.5 game playoff deficit. That sounds like fun. Confused at to why they would just not do what the NHL plans to do?  But so be it. To each his or her own.

The rumor I heard is that they have to refund RSNs if they don’t provide a base number of games - they’ll play enough to avoid having to do that

Money.  Interesting because I would think hockey teams were in the same boat.

As best I could tell the Wizards would have 8 regular season games to make up 2 games in the standings (they are currently 5.5 games back). Then they would face a playin of some sort.

Joining the 16 current playoff teams will be the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs in the West and the Washington Wizards in the East, sources told ESPN. If the No. 9 seed is more than four games behind, the No. 8 seed will make the conference playoffs. If the No. 9 seed is less than four games back, there will be a play-in tournament, sources told ESPN.

I wonder how many rounds they'll make the tournament in the east

I’m assuming after the playin (if needed) it would just go an as usual. Surprised they didn’t go for the NHL type tournament. They have invited 5 teams in the West and none of them may make it. I suppose it’s mostly to give the teams with a real chance some warmup.

I think the west could end up with a multi round tournament that would be great television- if all of the invited teams finish within 4 games would could get three rounds with some teams getting a 1 round bye- i.e. 13 vs 10 and 11 vs 12 in round 1, winner vs 8 and winner vs 9 round 2 and then the winners of that round playing for the 8 seed

Details are sparse but that’s not how I read it. Only the 8 and 9 teams in play. Apparently single elimination for 9 and double elimination for 8.

Not sure how the schedule of the 8 regular season games would work either with 13 teams in the west and only 9 in the East.
