Naw dude, that cant be an organization's mentality. You cant just keep guys whom you arent grooming for something better.

Cate has a really good curve. Send him to driveline, give him a leg focused bulking plan, and make him a reliever. Tim Cate throwing 92-93 for one inning is more than just filler

I don't get it either. He was a 2nd pick and signed for almost a mill. That shouldn't be organizational filler. There was some reliever risk at draft time but they're reluctant to try him out there? What's the harm in it?

Perfect through the first four innings tonight with 6Ks.  Then a leadoff HR in the 5th and then a double.  His curveball is good.

He looks like an MLB reliever who has no business starting.  He's got 2 usable pitches, one of which is plus.  I've been encouraged by how he pitches to righties tonight, but he needs that nowadays to even be a reliever.

Yeah. He does not seem to throw very hard.

He's now relieving in AA and doing OK early in the season.
5 appearances, 6.2 IP, 1.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, lots of ground balls, but 3 R, 1 HR, and 6K:4BB so far. Odd stat - 3 pickoffs.

His BB rate exploded at Rochester for the first time in his career. Prior to AAA, it never topped 8.5% at any level. The past two years, prior to promotions (from A+ to AA, then in AA prior to AAA), he had had a 17.7 and 17.8 K%-BB%, which is nice. the K% didn't change much, but the BB% is up to 17.7%. Not sure what is going on.
