Washington Redskins thread (2019)
« Topic Start: April 26, 2019, 10:19:07 PM »
QB Dwayne Haskins
OLB Montez Sweat
WR Terry McLaurin

Haskins asked them to draft his boy from OSU and they did it in the 3rd round so he's already in charge of the team. :hang:

They needed a WR and McLaurin was the best fit at the time.  It's not like they traded up, or passed up on better options to draft him..

Apparently Trent Williams demanded a new contract or a trade

Good for him - it’s obvious they don’t plan on competing while he’s still here, but they’re relying on him to keep Haskins upright, might as well try while you have leverage

See, I viewed it more in the vein of, he knows his body is on its last legs. He wants to get as much guaranteed money as possible.

Probably, but he has leverage so why not try?

Sure.

But the Skins have an offensive lineman they drafted number 5 overall, so they can just slide him over to LT, right?

Hospitalized Albert Haynesworth in 'dire' need of transplant after suffering kidney failure
The former first round pick was hospitalized this week after suffering a total kidney failure

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/hospitalized-albert-haynesworth-in-dire-need-of-transplant-after-suffering-kidney-failure/

According to a post on his Instagram, Haynesworth was hospitalized on July 7 after both his kidneys failed him..."The bright side of this latest ordeal I can ask for help by asking for someone to generously donate a kidney," he wrote. "If you are interested in giving this precious gift please call Vanderbilt at 615-936-0695 and hit option 2. GOD BLESS thank you for your prayers and thanks for sharing this message."

...The 38-year-old is currently being treated at the Williamson Medical Center, which is located just outside of Nashville.

...Haynesworth played his last NFL down back in 2011 after playing for four teams over 10 seasons. The defensive lineman entered the NFL in 2002 after the Titans made him the 15th overall pick in the draft. After being selected to two Pro Bowls during his seven seasons with the Titans, Haynesworth moved on to Washington. Following two seasons with the Redskins, Haynesworth signed with the Patriots in 2011. After being cut by New England during the middle of the season, Haynesworth latched on with Tampa Bay, where he finished his career.

Has a team ever fallen this far?  Leeds United perhaps.

Yes, for the last couple of years but he’s completely done now it sounds like.

End of an era, for sure.  I know he barely provided any commentary during the past couple of years of broadcasts, but I would tune in for portions of games just to hear him every now and again.  Hope he's doing okay, otherwise.

Except I don't feel like getting Haskins hurt or all freaked in the head like we did with Campbell and Ramsey.

Plenty of guys get thrown to the wolves, suck their rookie years and end up fine (Peyton Manning and Aikman come to mind).

A lot more don't. Also, I don't think Haskins actually gives you the best chance to win. Or even a remotely close chance.

Unless you're going to sign the coach to a long term deal, you can't start Haskins.
