I just programmed my Fios box to automatically turn to the Caps opener next Wednesday. :whip:

The schedule works out perfectly. Nats lose the wild card game Tuesday night just in time to vacate the sports viewing slot for the Caps.

Caps waived Djoos, which is a little surprising. martin fehervary, a second round pick last year, has been a stud in camp apparently (he's only 19) and i wouldn't be surprised to see the team give him the first shot.

Djoos was blah all last season. Why is it surprising that they would waive him?

Damn, I've been out of the loop being so preoccupied with the Nationals. I need to catch up now that the Nats only have one game left and the Caps start tomorrow.

Trotz is still gone. There, you're caught up.

They have a salary cap issue this year...about $1.5MM IIRC.  He took them to arbitration and won..."won' being subjective.

At his age...they get relief of 2/3 of his salary...again, IIRC...

To me it was only surprising because I figured we didn't have any AHL guys who would be clearly better for the roster, which is important with our D being kinda crappy. I thought they'd move Stephenson before cutting Djoos but apparently 18 has had a great camp and the defensive prospects look good.

His cap hit was something like 1.25 so I guess we're going for Dollar Store D on that line.

As backup goaltenders go, he was fine IMHO.  Wonder if some Backstrom extension news is coming.

Samsonov occupies marginally less cap room, but I guess every dollar matters at this point.

But oh well, it's another banner raising opening night!  The game probably wen't get going until like 9pm.

That banner raising took forever.  They could have just driven Darren Wilson around with the Cup on a zamboni and been started by now.

St Louis sucks ass, the city, all of its teams, its BBQ, everything

In all fairness, these banner-raising games seriously favour the home team.  Didn't we crush the Bruins last year and then go into an immediate funk after that?
