Nationals @ Rockies, Game 2 (Shakespeare Day)
« Topic Start: April 23, 2019, 11:52:50 AM »

The Royal National Players of the Globe
  by ye river Potomac, visiting
The Mountain Men of Colorado province
at 40 minutes after 8 o'clock, Post Meridiem

Until someone shall make haste and invent Television and radio,
We shall watch this base ball match in a theater-in-the-round

All the league's a stage,
And all batsmen and hurlers merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances.

EIGHTH ANNUAL
TALK LIKE SHAKESPEARE
(or be thou a wretched ill-learn'd knave)
GAME DAY THREAD

(originated on the Twenty~second day of May in the Year of Our Lord Two thousand and twelve by the Nat of Houston, (who lives not there), an apprentice too busy, with many masters)

Today is the 403rd anniversary of William Shakespeare's death.
Born: April 1564, Stratford-upon-Avon, England
Died: 23rd of April One, in the one thousand six hundred and 16th year of Our Lord, at Stratford-upon-Avon, England

Spouse: Anne Hathaway (married 1582–1616)

When my list of players swear they are made of truth
I do believe them, though I know they lie
Of verity, the list of players may appear later in the day,
(or not at all, if no scribe shall print them,)
Then shall all be known, of victory, I pray!

The brave Knight, Patrick, of family Corbin
shall face Kyle of the mountain's Freeland,
as both throw missiles with their left hand. Jeff Hoffman, a Visitor from the Spanish colony, Villa de Alburquerque, has replaced Kyle for tonight's performance.

Jeff Hoffman, a Visitor from the Spanish colony, Villa de Alburquerque, has replaced Kyle for tonight's performance.

A list of tonight's Players can be found above.

Frank-Paul Santangelo, from the Hills of El Dorado, reports that Patrick Corbin possesses a wonderful horse, shod with shoes of silver. This horse can dance to music, count, make answer to questions; do a thousand and one other tricks, among which is his reputed ascent of St. Paul's steeple.

A private Message to Nat of Houston, (who lives not there), was met with Reply of his inability to carry on his tradition. Thus due to several knaves who employ his services, plus his own bad breath and growing disdain for games of sport, in which Antonio of Rendon is not a player.

Ye opposing pitcher royally sucketh. So dominate the Nats he shall.

Dave Jageler: The Rockies have called up Jeff Hoffman from AAA to make the start. He is 0-2 with a 13.89 ERA in AAA.  His last start he allowed 10 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings!!!

Standing room for the poor is one penny, covered seating is twopence, and a lord's room costs sixpence.
