Nationals Playoff Charity Challenge
« Topic Start: April 14, 2019, 12:41:07 AM »
So everyone knows I’m a SSS person. Last year I made bets with anyone who was willing as to whether the Nats would make the playoffs.

Here’s how it works. I think the Nats will make the playoffs. If they do and you bet with me that they won’t, you have to give a amount we determine to the charity of my choice. If the Nats don’t make the playoffs, I’ll make a donation to the charity of your choice.  We have to both agree on the charities. No political charities allowed.

Last year this was fun and we got to focus on and publicize some great causes.

If you’re interested, DM me with the amount you want to bet and the charity (I don’t want to necessarily publicize amounts) and I’ll post the charities publicly in this thread so others can donate if they choose.

Let’s have some fun!

Great to see this continued.  I'm in.  However, were I you, I'd demand odds this time around.  Especially if you plan to attend a lot of games.

How about the proceeds all go to a 501(c) to provide for a safe retirement for Davey somewhere far from baseball where he can't cause any damage?  Say a tree-trimming business in the desert.

He'll have to cut this off soon or he'll go broke.

VaRK and I have made the first bet. He is picking St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

https://www.stjude.org/

I am picking Highland County Humane Society, which is where I got my dog Sophie.

https://www.highlandcountyhumanesociety.org/

Please look at both and consider donating to these worthy causes on your own.

I’ll pick different charities for each bet someone makes to give exposure to different causes.

NatNasty and I have made a bet.

He is choosing Lonesome Dove Equestrian Center, a charity that provides equestrian therapy for disabled veterans.

https://ldequestrian.com/

I am choosing So Others Might Eat, a DC charity for the homeless.

https://www.some.org/

Please look at both and consider donating to these worthy causes on your own.

She’s like a mix of like 4 random hound breeds. I think she also has some dachshund in her. The DNA test was quite the smorgasbord.

I wish I had the spare cash to make a wager. I"m living paycheck to paycheck at this point, but that's four absolutely awesome charities supported so far. If I had the cash, it'd be the American  Cancer Society in honor of my mom who died from cancer in 1993.

Someone has made an anonymous bet in honor of dracanal’s mother. The selected charity is the American Cancer Society.

https://www.cancer.org/

In order to make it a bet, I’m picking the DC Youth Orchestra.

https://www.dcyop.org/

But I imagine we might have some donations to the ACS regardless of the outcome.

Oh wow. Thank you! I know the board can be a bit negative at times, but there is really a wonderful community here.

I’m opening this up again.

:hysterical:

So Martinez got fired and instead of making it public they're using a cardboard cutout of Martinez. That explains the turn around.

Not at all. I just think it's funny that you put the blame on Martinez and declared you would be back on board if they fired him (because that would solve the team's problems) and now you're bumping the thread and Martinez is still here. Then again, you also said you'd become a birds fan if the Nats signed Rodney.

I'm making a donation to Tuesday's Children.

https://www.tuesdayschildren.org

They were formed after 9/11 to provide mentors to children who lost parents in the 9/11 attacks.  They have expanded since then to support children and spouses in military families of the fallen
