VaRK is a friend of our woodland creatures...

Good thing our neighbor across the street doesn't have out lot though...

It’s alright, I was given some venison and made some stew. I wasn’t a fan.

Within the last week I've seen two foxes in south Arlington, during broad daylight.

I see that many in my yard before I leave for work in the morning. (Seriously. 6-12 sightings a day, roughly.)

Saw our first turkey in our backyard last week, after having lived here 18 years.

I saw an escaped pet parakeet yesterday. Seemed to be having a good time out there with his sparrow friends, but I read that most are quickly eaten by predators because they lack any survival skills.

That's crazy. I've never seen one or heard of them being around.

Maybe the neighbor has a bulldozier and is destroying habitat.

Early this morning we had a momma bear and her four cubs pass by. That’s the most cubs we’ve ever seen. They were SO cute! The cubs looked to be about 25 pounds. They were into everything!  Checking out the hammock, climbing on some lawn chairs, jumping on rocks and a fallen tree, and batting at the ornamental grasses. Momma definitely has her paws full with that crew!

Hubby got some video. If I can figure out how to post it I will.

Here they are. Not the best quality video in the world, but I think you’ll get the idea. We were positively enchanted watching them.
