When they sign Kimbrel he’ll be released or put on the IR.

I hope that the Nats front office isn’t dumb enough to have made a judgement on him after 4 bad outings.

He will be dominant again. Let's just hope they figure out a way to keep him here so it happens here. He was dominant just a month ago in Spring training.

Possibly, but he'd still have the ERA from when he got dumped and that would still be his ERA at season's end.

Might have to make a poll for the whole bullpen at this rate.

As bad as he's been so far it's still too small of a sample size to judge him considering he's coming off of TJ and didn't pitch at all last year. And considering most of the pen has been terrible you also have to question Lilliquist as the pitching coach.

Who’s the worst player in baseball? Chris Davis who has gone 0 for his last 44 or Rosenthal who has 5 straight appearances without retiring a batter?

Kinda like the irresistible force and the immovable object dilemma...

Davis has four more years at upwards of $20 million/year.

Actually, I’d use him as an opener. Let him pitch the first inning, which is relatively low leverage so he can at least get an out or two and get his head right.

You do realize that the reason an "opener" exists is because the first inning was identified as not "low leverage," right?

How about lower leverage that most of the situations he’s been in. And I thought the opener was designed to limit the third time through the order penalty to batters not at top of lineup.

Then why wouldn't they simply used the "opener" when the lineup comes around the third time?

I don't know how much lower leverage we could have gotten than Rosenthal's opportunity yesterday.

The only lower leverage situation would be if we are losing by 4+ runs.  At that point, send him out there and tell him not to come back until he gets 3 outs.  It could be ugly, but we need to know if this dude can get anybody out or not.
