Kind of hard to believe... No, it IS hard to believe

The Nationals enter the allstar break with the 3rd best record in the NL after being 12 games back and the 2nd worst record in the NL a little over a month ago.

That was a lot of teams we jumped over.
A lot of parity in the NL right now.

I don't care if the schedule was week, playing at a 110 win pace over a month and a half is a good run and is the type of run that can drag you out of a hole.

And none of the dump Dave/Rizzo whiners even saw it because they were so busy frothing at the mouth.

Bottom line is the Braves will win the NL East.

Not a done deal.  Only 5 down in the loss column. That's why they play 162.

I don't think their rotation can hold up.

Its fine.  They have plenty of depth. They also have the ability to trade for more.

they already brought in Keuchel. There was some speculation Sunday about acquiring both Will Smith and Madison Bumgarner for prospects.

They can just mash their way to a division title. That lineup is nuts.

In our current, healthy form, we're a better hitting team.

Also, the Braves do most of their damage in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. This is why it's so imperative that the Nationals make moves now. This Nationals team is two quality relievers away from catching the Braves. That's literally all it takes. Two freaking good relievers.

No way. Our offense has been well below average this year. Theirs have been well above. Their 8th place hitter has an OPS of .837. They are just deeper. And statcast data says some of their hitters like Acuna, Donaldson, Swanson, and Albies are a little unlucky despite putting up great numbers. We obviously have the advantage in the rotation. But guys like Robles and Eaton are average to below offensively and Gomes has been putrid.

The funny thing is 2 like passable mid-3 ERA middle relievers would do a world of difference on this roster right now. Think about how huge Javy Guerra has been for the last 6 weeks. Guy was DFA'd and has been acceptable and it feels like he's a stud.

That's basically the season right there. Sink or swim.

Season is already over. Rizzo needed to make moves way before now. He needed permission to exceed the luxury tax. He needed permission to trade away key, future pieces. He doesn't have it. This is done.

The Braves final 8 games of the season are against bottom feeders willing to lose games to position themselves for top draft picks, while our Nats will likely be playing teams contending for Wildcard spots or home field advantage.  :nervous: To even think about winning the division we would need to close the gap fast then go up on the Braves at least a 3-5 games before mid September.
As of right now, I’m visualizing us down 9 games because of the Braves final 8 gimmes against the Royals, Giants, and Mets DAMMIT!
That said, I certainly would not trade away top draft picks on a season that will likely end up in a one game Playoff at best regardless. July would have to be “HUGE” to change my mind.

Go Naaaaaaaaats!!!

The Nats head to head with the Braves is key. If they can put it to 'em, they will be ok.

Yes, that would be nice.
Mike Rizzo selected “3” players before Alonso was taken. 1) C. Kieboom. 2) Dane Dunning. 3) i’m too lazy to Google Rizzo’s 3rd choice.
