Looks like We may have a chance either today or the next few days to catch the Mets

I actually look forward to our games now believing we're going to win, versus dreading an inevitable meltdown to let another get away.  I'm enjoying the ride and we'll see where it goes.  It's better than just taking losses and trading away players with an interim manager babysitting.

Agreed. Even if we don't ultimately turn it into a postseason run, meaningful games the next few months/a fun comeback story would be nice.

I love dominance from start to finish, but I also love a get off the mat comeback story.  I like Davey.  I don't know if he's going to prove to be a good manager or not, but I he's easy to root for.  I had a hard time rooting for Matt Williams.  I'm a sucker for rooting for a guy like Rosenthal to get back to form.  Will it happen?  Who knows, but I was pumping my first when he got through that inning last night.  On the whole, I enjoy seeing our beat up bullpen guys start to turn things around.

I think its laughable you all think this team has a chance.

The worst thing that could happen to the Nationals would be for them to make a bit of a run leading up to the deadline. They arent going to make the playoffs. They would simply expend prospects they need to keep.

The Braves are playing like they did last year. They are the Nationals in 2012, before The Shutdown. And they have a ton of stuff to deal to make themselves better.

Sell at the deadline. Build  up the farm system to compete in two years.

After the Braves finish off the Pirates tonight, the Nats will be effectively 16 games out of the division lead (7 + 7 + 2).

We would need a really strong next 2-3 weeks to even think about buying. Like, .650 baseball or above and the teams above us stumble. We just split back-to-back series while our opponents gained ground. We dug too big of a hole to really feel good until we're 3-4 games out and playing well. We're really not playing all that great over the last week, and a .500 week is brutal for us.

the thing is right before the break we play the dregs of baseball. Things are going to get skewed.

I just started a thread about this. We play four games against the Phil's, and three against the Barves.

that's because they do the little things and play the right way.  Or is that the Cardinals?  The Barves uphold the unwritten rules, so does that include playing the right way?

All they're doing is playing against the Pirates/Marlins/Pirates the past week or so... not much of a challenge really

They have won seven in a row--that's a great streak no matter who they play.  Have the Nats swept those teams?

My point was they haven't played a team with a .500 or better in, what two weeks? I just feel like the NL East is just so weak.

Acuna, Albies, Riley, plus the arms.  They are stacked with young talent.

I despise the Phillies SO MUCH I was actually rooting for the Braves last night even though they’re in first place.
I could possibly stomach Freddy Freeman winning a Championship. Now if Bryce Harper were to win a Championship in Philly, I would have to bring EVERYONE DOWN with me by screwing up traffic on the 14th Street Bridge at rush hour for at least 5-6 hours!!!

GO NATS!!!!!!!!!!, GO BRAVES!, GO METS! Eat poop and die Phillies!!!!!!!

Yes, since it looks like the Nats aren't going to win it the next best choice is the Braves. Their fans are first class and no bad guys on the team.
