Cut Zimmerman..anything. He is a giant albatross in the middle of our lineup.

Start Adams. Bring up Jake Noll.

You can’t cut him . He is gone after this season. Your teams first draft pick that has done everything they ask of him, never caused a problem and is loved by the community. It would be like the Os cutting
Cal his last season.

No team that is 1.5 games back less than a month into the season is going to bust it up.

Shhh, keep the hysteria going.

I'm not saying they shouldn't (Does that help?). I'm just saying they won't.

When it's obvious your players and managers don't have the ability to win, it should be done, regardless of where you are in the standings.

Unless you believe they're under-performing and will revert to the norm.

I like your go all-in thread better.  :hysterical:

If I remember correctly, Cal made $8mm his last year.  He was as slow as the Buffalo, and was worth maybe $800K.  But everyone in Baltmore loved Cal.

If they give Zim $8mm next year, that's $5mm being flushed down the toilet.  I hope he's not too proud about accepting a home team discount for finishing his career here.

Again, is there one good reason why Zimmerman is starting ahead of Adams?

Zimmerman is nearly 100 points higher in on-base, their average is roughly the same, he has more homeruns, and Adams stats, bad as they are, are artificially inflated by batting almost exclusively against righthanders.  So I'd say several reasons there.

I left out: zimmerman is far superior defensively. I don’t mean to overstate this, after all, it is first base. Still, it is another reason.

What about clutch hits, runners in scoring position and all that?

It seems that when Adams is at 1B we win. And when Zimmerman is at 1B batting 5th our entire lineup struggles.

Maybe keep Zimmerman in the lineup but there is no way he should be batting 4th or 5th.

Then what does that say about Zimm?

The decision to let go Roark and bring in Anibal Sanchez hasn't really worked out for us.

Sure it has. We saved money. Also, Roark had no interest in putting in the work here.

Blow this crap up.
Looks like 85 wins takes the division. Just fire the manager and see what happens.

If only. You think this laize faire team is just gonna get fired up with a new manager? They were just like this with Dusty.

Blow it up now while you still can. Harper garnered an offer with at least 1 top 100 prospect. A healthy,  mashing Rendon will garner at least that.

As horrible as we’ve been, we’re only 2 games back. Let’s see what happens when Rendon & Turner return and Rizzo puts a few bandaids on the bullpen.
We don’t have to be great to win this division so I wouldn’t  start the fire sale until there’s some real separation. The Phillies and Mets aren’t as good as we thought, so we may as well hang around awhile until someone grabs the bull by the horns. Heck, It just might be us!!!  :D
But I hear ya LOUD AND CLEAR! If the Mets or Phillies sign Kimbrel and/or  Keuchel and we move to 8 games back —> SELL!!! SELL!!! SELL!!!

LETS GO NATS!

We had Rendon and Turner and there is no difference.

“Winning a lot of regular season games and winning divisions are not enough,” Rizzo said. “Our goal is to win a world championship.”

"Mike Rizzo and his team will be busy during the offseason making sure we have all of the pieces necessary to come back and be competitive next year."  (Mark Lerner)

There's a serious gap in expectations, and yet we have neither...
