per Steinberg: "Nats announce first pitch tmrw will be thrown by Billie Roy Cook, a two-tour Vietnam War veteran as an Officer in the 101st Airborne Division, where he earned two Bronze Stars, a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, a Presidential Citation, and seven Battle Stars."

sounds like this guy has bigger balls than what he's throwing.

Well done.

They also need to have some kind of tribute for Robby. Will they be wearing patches perhaps this year?

With Opening Day comes a fair amount of pomp and circumstance. Another year with no President on the mound to throw out the first pitch, but the Nationals honored Billie Roy Cook, a two-tour Vietnam War veteran as an Officer in the 101st Airborne Division, where he earned two Bronze Stars, a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, a Presidential Citation, and seven Battle Stars with the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

The 82-year-old graduate of Northwestern State University fired the ball across home plate, right into the mitt of catcher Kurt Suzuki, before a sell-out crowd of 42,263 fans erupted into applause. An announcer introduced Cook, who turned down offers to play in the major leagues in order to join the Army as an officer.

Cook is in Northwestern’s N-Club Hall of Fame and his No. 10 jersey is retired, . He won a school-record 29 games from 1957-59 as a right-handed pitcher.

Are the Phillies playing tomorrow?  If not, then Bryce!

In all seriousness, a relative of Frank Robinson would make sense.
I really like that idea. Too late for OD but ... why not a day for his memory (and his family) during the long season?

Man should be honored posthumously since not done sufficiently while he was living. If their health allows. might even get greats like Aaron and Mays to attend as honored guests along with perhaps other living Hall of Famers who knew him well.

Sure he should.  But it should be Baltimore honoring him. He is a Baltimore hero.  Not DC.

I know we lost yesterday, but I had an amazing time. And it was cool to say hi to Wilson. I always liked the Buffalo. Snagging a game used, Opening Day ball was nice too.

The first three are, the baseball looks OK.  Nice score on the ball by the way.

Let the record state, that on the Opening Day of the 2019 Major League Baseball Season, every single member of WNFF had as many hits as Bryce Harper did.

And fewer strikeouts.
