Trout signs huge deal per Jeff Passan.

I think he got too little.

They will still say it’s the largest “free agent signing.”  :hysterical:

And he's not joining Harper in Philly.

Maybe LAA will finally put a team around him.

  • Let's drink a few for Mathguy.
Seems like he could have gotten more. Maybe he wanted to stay in sunny SoCal more than he wanted that last $70M.

I have to chuckle because many of the sports radio experts on Philly said it was a lock he comes home.

If he wasnt there already and signed with the Angels, everyone would say he only cares about the money and not winning. Because he is already there he will he saluted for his loyalty.

Whatever he gets is generally an underpay. We will see if they can build a team around him.  It’s a shame he gets so little visibility on national telecasts and only one post season.

That is how you do it. If you want to stay, you keep your mouth shut, you tell management you want to stay and you work out an extension early.

If you never planned on staying and think you were too good for your team, well, you use a different strategy.

What strategy is playing out with Rendon?  Seems he has kept his mouth shut but no extension yet.

He has to have an opt out after 2 years so Royce can talk to him about going to Philly like he said he would...

Will Trout kick some of this $ to Bryce by helping drive up the price by his recruiting talk?

He’s going to Philly.  They will trade Harper, Nola and Kapler to the Angels.

Good lord...even Bob Nightengale doesn't know the difference between "then" and "than."

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/angels/2019/03/19/mike-trout-contract-angels/3210621002/

The overall commitment is $100 million more then Bryce Harper received on Feb. 28, when he signed a 13-year, $330 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

 :smh:

They got Bryce on a real sweet deal

They really did. His deal looks like a bargain right now.

Now Trouts a man with some real HOF numbers that even the old timers would be proud of. Good for him. Too bad he's not a NAT.

It's entertaining to read the Phillies fan forum board. They had a thread where everybody was thinking it was a done deal Trout would be going to philly. Then in the same thread news of the new Trout deal.
