How did those bullpens fare in the playoffs?
By that definition, there is only one good bullpen every year

I know the bullpen is a dumpster fire, but Davey continues to pour gasoline on it. Rodney should’ve been removed long before he gave up the bases clearing double.

No reason to continue to pitch Rodney.   Guy is a 43 year old fat body.

Hopefully he will leave Voth in there as long as possible. No pinch hitting in the 6th... If he's pitching well then he needs to stay in there. Voth is young, and has not been overworked this year. We need 110 pitches (if he's getting outs). The 75 pitch count is not going to work with this bullpen.

Right. Gotta burn out the young guy's arm. The Dusty Way.

Not sure what the definition of "young" is for a pitcher but Voth is 27. Seems like he is considered one of those twice through the order guys. The last time he was pulled at 80 pitches I looked up his stats and his 3rd time through the order numbers are not great. His 3rd time through the order consists of a whopping 4 innings. Give the guy a chance....

or, we can shut him down in Sept. and not pitch him in the playoffs (ask Stras about that)  I'm sure Voth won't mind sitting out this year; he will have many more chances  ;)

Weird thought of the day: do you put Corbin in the pen for the WC and NLDS and go Scherzer, Sanchez, and Stras as your starters?

Stras and Corbin are 1 and 1A right now.  Scherzer should not pitch either of the first 2 games...if it get's that far...

But, he will...Standard Decision...so yes, Corbin in the pen makes sense...

You're not starting Stras in 1/2 days of rest.

I played a bit with what I think is the probable rotation, and giving Corbin a Game 1 start would let him slide into the bullpen for games 3-5.  widl card pitcher starts game 3.  Game 5 is normal rest for Game 2 starter, which leaves game 4 for the 4th starter (or Corbin on short rest).

28 blown saves by our esteemed BP with Doolittle leading the way.

A lot of guys aren't as effective coming in relief. I'd rather see Voth in the 'pen and come in early (if he has to) and Rainey, Hudson, Strickland, Doolittle as our late guys. If we keep a 4 man starting rotation then we can let our starters go deep because they will have normal rest. All 4 guys (Corbin, Stras, Max, Sanchez) are capable of pitching a shutout! Isn't it time to throw "conventional wisdom" out the door? Our best pitchers are those 4 starters!

If the Nats win the wild card game, wouldn’t make sense to start Corbin in game 1 given the lefty heavy makeup of the Dodgers’ lineup?

You gonna start Sanchez in  Game 2? Game 1 is one day of rest from the WC game.
