Saw on Reddit that Rosenthal’s start: four appearances allowing at least one run without recording an out, hasn’t happened since 1908

But wait, there’s more:

ESPN: “Trevor Rosenthal just can't buy an out.

@EliasSports tells us that Rosenthal is the first P in MLB history to allow at least one run without recording any outs in four straight appearances.

He's faced 9 batters in that span. All 9 have scored.”

So who is available out of the bullpen today?  We could really use a rain out.  Suero probably can give us an inning or two.  Doolittle can close again. Sipp?  I would think Grace and Miller are probably down.  Is Hellickson still working out of the pen?  If Strasburg doesn't go 7, we are in deep doo doo, despite having a day off tomorrow.  It's April 4.

Doolittle isn't available.

Well, rosenthal only pitched to two batters yesterday.  And Kendrick’s arm is fresh.

Kimbrel's likely move is to hold out until after the draft in early June, then go after a multi-year deal again.

If you wait until after the draft to sign him, you don’t have to give up draft picks.

Rosenthal is not a high leverage situation pitcher. He's a former closer who is used to coming into a clean inning like a traditional close

Even more of a reason to bring in Kimbrel

Not sure how Kimbrel pitching the 9th helps Rosenthal get an out in the 7th

Is it safe to say that I am the ONLY member on this board that has a Rosenthal bobblehead and it is very likely he will never get one in a Nats uniform?

It was Trevor day for the first game I ever took my son to (6months old). We drove up to St Louis from Tulsa at the time.

I mean, he's only 28 and can still hit 100mph.  Seems to me the problem is with his control and in his head.  We get rid of him, someone else will pick him up and it's the next Blake Treinen, then we start a topic about how our pitching coach can't help pitchers work out of their funks.  I think we send him someplace to get it together for 3 weeks.

If we do that, there's a decent chance you get your son another Rosenthal bobblehead.

...and can someone please remind me why we didn't re-sign Greg Holland?  The guy was lights out with us last season and looks fantastic with Arizona right now.

He's going to be great. This will pass. I would have used him in the 9th yesterday with a short hook. Four run lead, clean inning, I bet he would have been his old self.

Yes, this puzzles me. It was obvious at the end of last year that he had gotten his groove back.

Not sure how Kimbrel pitching the 9th helps Rosenthal get an out in the 7th

Because if we brought in Kimbrel it would push everyone else down and we could use Rosenthal in low pressure situations until he gets his control back.

9th- Kimbrel
8th- Doolittle
7th- Barraclough/Miller/Sipp

Besides, losing a lead in the 6th or 7th is a whole lot easier to recover from than losing a lead in the 8th or 9th.
