Trading for a reliever today won't solve that terrible start. Hot bats and pitching improvements across the board holding up is more important to a crazy hot streak than a setup man.
I want to see this team make up some more ground. Now, they do that? They'll eventually come back to Earth, but a quality setup man can help stabilize the ship at that point.
Trading for a reliever greatly reduces the problem we have in the pen. The other teams in the WC race are going to work to get better. The Nats have to as well.
You have to have a pen that can win you a close game when the bats are cold and the opponent isnt on pace for 90+ losses. And right now they dont. The bats arent going to be hot all season. The starting pitching isnt going to be lights out all season.
So yes, trading for bullpen help is an enormous need. And if Rizzo doesnt address it significantly, this team wont make the playoffs.
