This is terribly sad.  I can't believe he's 74.  My earliest baseball memory was watching him pitch for the Mets then get traded to the Reds.  I saw him pitch once at Shea for the Reds.  In the one year I played little league I pitched just to pretend I was Tom Seaver, and I wore his uniform number.

I used to wrap a coat hangar around the antenna on the little black and white tv in my bedroom so I could get channel 9 in NYC and watch the 69 Mets. Seaver was the best. That’s really sad news.

Finished his career with the 86 Sox but was injured for the playoffs. Would have been fun to see him v the Mets
