If his wife says, "let's name him Jayson," then he should put in a call to Chase Utley

Just noticed  J.B. Bukauskas, who was the centerpiece of the almost Harper to the Astros trade last year, was traded to Arizona as part of the Grienke deal.  He's posted a 7.71 ERA at AA in 2 starts since the trade, and had a 5.25 ERA in 14 AA starts and 6 relief appearances prior to the trade.  Garrett Stubbs, another player in the deal, has posted .237 / .330 / .402 in the PCL this year.

Nobody is willing to give up good prospects anymore. If somebody is willing to give someone up, they probably are garbage. That’s a big change over the last couple of years.

No GM wants to be excoriated when the prospect they traded away becomes a superstar. Nobody remembers the trades not made though.

Bukauskas is a local kid.  A friend scouted him when he was at Stone Bridge in Ashburn.

still would have made that trade though, Bukauskas is only 22 and we got nothing for Harper.

J.B. Bukauskas has electric stuff but has had injury problems this season. Probably headed for TJS. But in 7 innings with ARizona, he struck out 11 batters. He is reminiscent of a right handed Robbie Ray.

Apparently fairly popular in Utah. Also, Utahns have really weird names for their kids.

Hard to come up with new names when you’re on kid 8

  • We had 'em all the way.
I was at Walmart yesterday.    Walked by the electronics/game section and saw a display for a particular MLB approved gaming company (not sure who).   There was a four foot high rounded display   ...   big photo of Hawpah.     First thing that crossed my mind was, "Why is this here?'    Realized, of course, that Walmart wasn't trollin' me.      Came close though.
