  • That’s gonna be a no from me, doge.
...so the Lerners lowered their offer to him around New Years?

Thom Loverro has been saying all along that the deferrals are being way over-exaggerated by Boras/Harper camp.  He calls it outright lies.  The Nats have been silent on it.  I believe the Nats were looking for buying signals for the past 5 years from Harper/Boras, but they never really got any warm and fuzzies so they started to prepare for life after Bryce, well before the 9/26 envelope offer.  This is about more than this past offseason.

If wanted to stay, he would have countered the envelope offer. Instead, he expected them to tie up a huge portion of money while he tested the market.

And if the nats wanted him they would have locked him up a few years ago. I do wonder if they unintentionally got themselves into a situation where they couldn’t afford him.

I think 2015 threw that off. Once he put up that season, that became the expectation.

I think they decided they couldn’t afford him. And then changed their minds some after the season when it appeared he had no 300 million offers. Except Philly where he wouldn’t play. Also they wanted to save money for Rendon. And spent some on Corbin.

Now it’s a PR battle.

Because of the 1-2 start.

Because of the 1-2 start.

it was a PR battle the day the nats gave boswell a bunch of "bryce harper is actually a bad thing" material. or even as early as the nats leaking that they offered him 10/300. its always a PR battle

Svrluga's gonna be on 106.7 at 11:30.    Paulsen's back on air after baby leave.    He can't such Harper's ass enough.

If you would have told me 5 years ago I would be walking into Nationals Park as an opposing player, I would’ve told you that you were crazy. Five years later, I’m doing just that. I remember the first day I walked into Nats Park. My first base hit. My first home run. And, of course, my first standing ovation. Nationals fans delivered that first ovation.

The things that I will miss most are the relationships I gained on a personal level with so many of the Nationals staff and workers around the ballpark. Every day I walked in, I got a smile or shared a laugh with you. I especially want to thank The Lerner Family and Mike Rizzo for the unwavering support they showed me during my tenure in DC.

The city of DC was home. Filomena’s, The Silver Diner, The Italian store, and countless other places helped make it feel like home. You, Nationals fans, made me one of your own for the entire time I was a part of the Nationals organization. I’m so blessed to have been able to play for a fan base that cared so much about our team each and every night. You will always hold a special place in my heart no matter what. I look forward to continuing Harpers Heroes with LLS in the DMV as well as making sure the legacy fields bearing my name are the best youth fields in town!

When I run on the field tonight I am sure to hear some boos, but I will always remember the cheers and the screams that are still with me right now, as I start my new chapter. So for that, DC, THANK YOU.

doh, missed your post above as I thought it had something to do with Svrluga.

:az:

Yeah, Harper expressing love for the Italian Store just bumped him up a few notches in my book.  That place is incredible.
