I see no reason to not bring up Noll in place of Jordy Mercer. Mercer has been exactly what we thought, but what is the point of having him out there down the stretch? Give Noll a real shot and see if he can stick, he has hit at every level. Let's see what we have.

Mercer is a better fielder

Hitting > fielding

Seeing what you have in young guys > continuing to play journeyman vets

Why aren’t we calling up our triple A guys. Stevenson and Noll are knocking the cover off the ball. The Nat’s have become a team of misfits from other teams. If management doesn’t have any faith in them then offload the best of them and get help. The Nat’s are becoming a very frustrating franchise to follow. There are a couple of players that have been given suitable time to show what they have and it’s mediocre at best (Robles)

Call up Stevenson.

I don't know about Noll, but maybe. Mercer seems like a steady veteran guy. Noll has been hitting well at Rochester.

"Mediocre" is generous for Robles. He can field CF but can't hit. Perhaps the Nats can swap him with Stevenson and then he might learn some hitting in AAA. He his swing looks like a rubber-band that it tied into a knot, so he might not become Ted Williams but maybe he can forget the home run delusions and become something like Sam Rice.

It could be they are keeping them in the minors to give them value going into deals, especially with Strasburg reportedly having a “setback”

Put him on the 40-man and bring him up.

We'd rather play Gerardo Parra and Yadiel Hernandez than a 27 year old who could still turn into a really useful utility players.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/08/16/jake-noll-rochester-red-wings-nationals/

Quote
Noll finished July with a .327 batting average, best among the 20 teams in Triple-A East. After a small slide, he ranks sixth (.305) in batting average with a .347 on-base percentage and a .505 slugging percentage. He has 11 homers, 20 doubles and three triples, and he has crushed lefties with a .939 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. And still, the 27-year-old is waiting for his phone to ring again.
...
“A lot of times guys put way too much pressure on themselves when they get that first opportunity,” Red Wings Manager Matthew LeCroy said. “And I think Jake was someone who tried so hard to impress everybody that things didn’t go his way. If coming off the roster calmed his mind a bit, we’re seeing it now. He’s a really good ballplayer.”
...
“Since pitchers know I will lay off their inside slider or their breaking pitches, they have to challenge me with something up, or something I can handle more, and that’s why I’ve either pulled home runs or hit line drives to right field or right-center,” Noll said, estimating that 60 percent to 70 percent of his hits have landed there. “Once I figured that out, it all simplified for me at the plate.”

I'd rather see him at 2nd than Adrian Sanchez.

still seems odd this guy doesn't get a call-up: .313 / .360 / .528 this season with 14 HRs.

Agreed. A. Sanchez deserves some time for how long he has been with the Nats, but Noll seems a better hitter. If the Nats need a pinch-hitter, I'd rather it be Noll. Who filled out the MLB roster? Parra is hurt. McGowin is out. Are they holding a spot for Jordy Mercer?

Noll can't play defense.

And yet this season they've used him at LF, CF, RF, 3B, 2B, and 1B.  He has mostly played 2nd and 1st, and has a .953 and .993 FP respectively at those positions.  You'd think his bat would be enough to earn him at least a chance to play this season, but with Bell and Zimmerman staying healthy this year and the team wanting to get more of a look at Garcia, there's no spot for him.

Noll is not on the 40-man, either. They would need to bump someone like Mike Ford, the 1B they picked up indirectly from the Yankees, or Antuna, who, I think, would be Rule-5 eligible.

Noll raking over a full season and not getting a call up is weird. Late bloomers occur, and 27 isn't that old. It's almost like they don't even want him in the clubhouse, because the baseball reasons don't add up.

He should be in Adrian Sanchez's spot right now.

Noll can't play defense.

Neither can Kieboom. At least Noll hits, in AAA. Kieboom doesn't hit anywhere. Switch them next season.

Not this past year in Rochester:
Kieboom: .236   .376   .385 with 5 HR in 181 PAs
Noll .300   .346   .494 with 17 HRs in 474 PAs

Not literally true.

Not at Harrisburg in 2018, where Kieboom hit .262 and Noll hit .278. Their OPS was about the same. Notice that Yadiel hit .314 with a .960 OPS.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=515f2ce1

Not at Potomac that year, when both hit about .300, with Noll a shade better than Kieboom:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=4ab37cd0

So literally not true in 2018.

Kieboom did outhit Noll in 2019 at Fresno, 300 to .285. There all the numbers seem to have been a bit fluky. Again, Yadiel led the team, hitting over .320 with a 1.009 OPS.

Conclusion: Noll literally outhit Kieboom in the minors in 2018 and in 2021. Kieboom literally flopped in the majors in 2020 and 2021. Noll might not be a sound major leaguer, but Kieboom looks worse. Nats need a 3B, and Kieboom needs to play in Rochester, alongside Adrian Sanchez and Rafael Bautista and Raudy Read.

Kieboom career OPS at AAA: .864
Noll: .788

Kieboom, AA: .721
Noll: .687

Kieboom A+: .880
Noll: .768

You can keep going, but theres really no argument to be made. Kieboom has outhit Noll at every level of the minors
