At least when he gets back it gives us a realistic shot at the playoffs.

Who is this Zimmerman guy of which you all speak?

He's not even running. Could be that April 27 was his last game. It would be nice if he gets activated at the end of the year even if he just plays a half inning.

Started rehab games. There are rumors that he will be recalled in the next week or so.

So about the time that we don't want him back, he comes back. Which means they'll have to play him. Which means a month of watching him suck at the plate. And right about the time we're eliminated from the playoffs, he'll start hitting. Which means the Nats will pick up his option.

Worst case scenario.  Probably 100% correct.

You forgot the part of his gravitational field attracting an asteroid to West Palm Beach while rehabbing there.

At least we wouldn't have to pick up his option year

Best case scenario on Zimmerman is that he comes back and is hitting like his old self and agrees to allow the team to trade him to a contending AL team. Worst case, either he can't hit or refuses at trade, he spends the rest of his Nats career on the bench and his option is not picked up, leaving a small cap hit for next year.

Him taking away playing time for Howie/Dozier is going to be horrible. I don't have any faith in him hitting well.

Him taking playing time away from Adams is exactly what we need.

Played a whole game last night. Gotta think he joins the club in Detroit to play some first base and DH

This would be terrible news if the season wasn't already lost...

DH may not be a bad look/see.

Dozier still can't hit righties.  Platoon second base with Kendricks (R) and Dozier (L).  Platoon first base with Adams (R) and Zim (L).

Sorry Bean, Zimmerman isn't platooning. He's certainly not going to be the short end of a platoon.

In 4 games for Harrisburg Zim was 3 for 12. Last nite he was 0-4 as DH.

Not enough GIDP to call him up yet, needs at least 1 per game.
