I've heard that an ankle sprain is sometimes worse than a break.
High ankle sprains are bad.  They linger and linger.  I'm not sure where Soto's sprain is located.

Is Dozier hurt? Not in the lineup again

Per Jesse Dougherty: Dozier has "flu like symptoms" but may be available to pinch hit.  Soto was jogging and taking swings and may also be available to pinch hit.

If not, expect to see Strasburg pinch hit at some point.

also:

Quote
- Roenis Elías has not progressed to throwing off the mound yet. The Nationals are working to build up strength in his hamstring, which has become the operative way of saying a pitcher is tossing and there is not a set timetable for a return.

Zim is taking full BP. He's going to be doing some running. So I'm guessing he'll be back by the end of August.

Soto back in the lineup tonight (Howie too).  Eaton and Adams get nights off against the lefty.

It was today...

Soto, Howie and Zimm faced him.  That's all I know about it...

Just in time to completely tamp out our playoff hopes.  :mg:

Yeah, but the true test will be how he feels tomorrow, since the reason he went on the IL is because he was sore the day or two after his outing.

Did Zimm ground into a few double plays?

You must have missed the Tommy John posts and his injury had nothing to do with his arm.    ;)

Wrong. The reason he went on the DL is because he pitched in those stupid expos uniforms. :stir: :poke:

Scherzer says he's ready to pitch in a game, no timeline for a return yet.

Sunday would be a pretty good guess, I'd think.  Regular rest off his simulated game and it's Fedde's turn.

Really feel like they should give him at least one rehab start. Something like 65 pitches . . .

Why?  He's not been out that long.  He's the best pitcher in the game.  I'd rather throw him for 5 innings with a little rust than anybody else we have.

Yea, you and someone else hijacked my point about liking Max in a wild card game with how he wouldn't be back.  You were wrong.

The last time he said he was fine he had to go back on the IL

So why do you want him pitching in the minors...so he would get hurt there instead?

Lol, so he cant pitch at all?

I want him to throw more than 36 pitches before determining if he's ready to go. Especially since hes been hurt since July 6

Again, he's the best pitcher in the game.  He's only been out a month.  Every game is super important.  A rehab game is silly.
