Odds To Win The World Series

The Las Vegas odds I just looked at to win the World Series have the Nats 11th at 16-1. That's okay but it has the Phillies at 5th at 12-1. Ahead of the Cubs, Cardinals, Braves, Indians and Brewers also. What's up with that?

The Phillies have better pitching than all those teams, and added JT Realmuto and, likely, Bryce Harper.

The odds would assume that the Phillies get a wildcard berth. Having a team take best of five or best of seven with their best three starters and everyone giving it everything is different than winning the most of 162 in your division.

One would think if the Nats make it to the playoffs and their big three are healthy they would be in good shape to win 5 and 7 game series over anybody else's big three.

BP has the Nats winning the East with 89 wins, ahead of the Mets (87), Braves and Phillies (85 each).  They don't have their 2019 playoff odds posted yet.

We'll be OK so long as Sports Illustrated doesn't give us the death knell by predicting we'll go 100-62 and beat the Yankees in the WS.
