When you're patient and have a little bit of luck, that is what can happen.

Good first round.

Trading up would've been foolish.
Yes. But this is Dan Snyder we're talking about

Giants will spend about $20 million more on Jones than they would have spent to acquire Rosen

https://www.nj.com/giants/2019/04/giants-could-have-saved-20m-by-trading-for-cardinals-josh-rosen-instead-of-drafting-daniel-jones-salary-cap-contract-comparison.html
What an odd thing to bring up. It's a rookie deal. Who gives a crap? Also, Jones actually has upside where as Rosen looks like a bust.

They could have taken Jones with their later pick in the first round. Or even second round. No one else had the guy as a first rounder.

the question is, if both Jones and Haskins had been available at 15, would Washington have taken Jones?  Apparently, the Giants had a clear preference for Jones so did not want the risk of waiting until #17.  They took a Clemson DL at #17 that's pretty good, if I remember from not paying attention this AM.

Did anyone have Haskins going 15?

That was basically what I read the last couple days. That the Redskins didn’t need to trade up since he was dropping. Not a good year to draft a QB. I don’t think Murray is going to be very good either. Everyone knows the Giants goofed. You’re just being Slate.

I’m just saying no one else had Jones rated as a first rounder. Unlike most big guys not a big arm. They apparently were influenced by the Mannings who think the kid is great because he played for the same guy they did.

From what I read, Rosen grades higher.   Judging a QB by his first year performance in the league is idiotic though I'm sure plenty of folks were ready to declare Peyton Manning a bust and blow up the Colts after his rookie campaign in which he set the league interception record while completing just 56% of his passes.

Maybe not 2nd round, but certainly after Haskins.  I listened to the Giants GM on the radio this morning, he said he fell in love with Jones after seeing him in the senior bowl (where he was MVP).  I don't think the Redskins would have picked him over Haskins.

Luckily Jones will have OBJ to throw to. Oh wait....

Trading up would've been foolish.  I wish him success and hope he pans out better than the other QBs drafted under the Snyder regime.  Not going to hold my breath though.

I hope he proves me wrong but this has RGIII disaster written all over it because of his personal relationship with Snyder.

Yep, as a prospect and a person, he seems great. The fact that he’s already a Snyder family friend raises enormous red flags. This will be another guy getting the owner to overrule the coach

The only hope is that he somehow becomes a good player (and I don't see it so I hope I'm wrong) because no coach will be able to bench him due to his ties to Snyder. This has the potential of being worse than the RGIII fiasco.

for a 2 this year and a 5 next?  That was light.  Surprised BB didn't come up with a 2 and a 3, but he must have really wanted to big corner he picked up at #45 when the Pats moved up.  He should get a QB in the 4th with the Redskins pick, unless there's a TE or DL he really wants.  3 picks in the 4th gives him a good chance to get a QB to develop.  HE has the luxury of either taking a guy who is smart but needs to bulk up and develop a better arm (like Brady) or get a toolsy guy who is willing to put in the time to learn.

Just heard on 106.7 that Odell Beckham may come out in a new conference on Monday (IIRC).    If it's not true, the "Rooster" may be lookin' for employment.

What does his age have to do with it? Younger people have strokes, it happens. Luckily since Teddy recognized the signs right away (since he had a stroke in 2005) he got right to the hospital and that should greatly increase his chances of a full recovery
